How to Prevent Dental Disease in your Children
Expert Loving Advice from Dr. GrandPa Ken
In every aspect of oral health Child-Dentistry Advisor is “Preaching” PREVENTION!
Nutrition and Dental Decay
Remember….. the first item on our list of “Plaque builders”, exactly what we do not want, is how frequently do we eat? Our goal is to reduce plaque build up.
I could almost guarantee that if your child had only 3 meals a day and brushed after each meal and flossed once a day they would be cavity free! We both know that this is not the real world and snacks are a way of life for most children. What are we going to do?

Dental Sealants
Dental sealants have been used as a preventive measure for over 40 years. The continual improvement of dental materials has made the application and retention of dental sealants a very practical approach to prevention.

Mouth Guards
Mom/Dad… “Dentist fitted”, multi-laminated mouth guards are absolutely the best at protecting your son/daughter’s teeth.
Do not put your child’s teeth at RISK while participating in contact sports. However, In my opinion, you do not have to be as concerned if your child is participating in sports and they are not old enough to have permanent teeth. If a primary tooth is traumatized and your child loses it, you still have a permanent tooth to replace it.
